Bethany Sheppard had been on report since allowing Ewwiekewwieikkie to crash the Retributor, and as a
result she had been handpicked by Commander Hood for
a special mission. Having traveled down to the
Rodney estate on Esseles she found herself assigned
to the Governor's youngest daughter, Drusilla. She
was in the refresher going through the toilet to
retrieve gemstones and then cleaning them for the
girl. She was going to be sick. She had already dry
heaved once. This was *not* what she had expected
when she signed up for the Imperial Navy to see the
"Make sure you
get them all," Drusilla said, from the safety and
comfort of Claudius and Sierra's bedroom. She did
not want to get any closer to that smell than she
already had to. Even at this distance it was one of
the worst things she had ever smelled in her entire
life. With her father gone to work and Sierra busy
with Callista awaiting Doctor Tohan, she had the run
of things. While her parents were horrified by what
happened, she thought it was a wonderful way of
speeding up the jewel reclamation process. Hopefully
she did not get blamed for this, although secretly
she wished she could take credit for it.
had dawned with Sierra Rodney feeling like a zombie.
The night had been insanity. Poor Ewwiekewwieikkie
and Callista were suffering from what she could only
assume was food poisoning. As a result, Sierra had
thrown away every food item that had been brought
home from Delaya. The girls were limited to crackers
and water until their tummies settled back into
place, then Sierra would greenlight bland foods like
toast. She actually looked jealous of Claudius when
he went off to work. "Come back and relieve me of my
duties," she said with a little smile.
of Ensign Bethany was a relief. At least Sierra
didn't have to split her attention between two
girls. She was able to be there for Callista's moral
support. The smell was horrendous. Her stomach was
knotted in five places by the time the little girl
finished in the refresher for the umpteenth time.
Sierra was currently seated at the table downstairs
looking exhausted. There was a cup of hot tea in
front of her that she hadn't touched. She was still
dressed from the previous night in her nightgown
with a robe. Her blonde hair was a mess. Her eyes
were half-closed (or half-opened). She had done what
she had to do: call for backup. While the family's
usual doctor was unable to make a house call, she
settled on Doctor Bailo. The gentle knock at the
door signified that the lady Ithorian had arrived.
With a groan, Sierra rose and made her way towards
never felt so tired in her life. She had *no* idea
what was happening to her body. "Auntie, my tummy
hurts "*so* bad." She cried to Sierra, pressing her
small body against her aunt. As terrible as she
felt, the moment someone knocked on the door,
Callista let out an excited shriek. "*Uncle*!
*Uncle's home*!" She squeaked, bounding, slightly
slower, towards the door. The little brown-headed
girl opened up the door. She discovered a
stranger...not her uncle. Her cheeks turned red.
"Hi." She said, stepping aside. "Wanna come in?"
Alessandra Bailo felt nervous. Claudius Rodney's
family were Pilaq's expertise. When he had asked her
to take the trip to Esseles instead, she felt *shy*.
She had met Sierra Rodney once during her short
visit to the medcenter. Always striving to do a good
job, Alessandra had read through all the family
health information that Pilaq had given her. By the
sound of things, Sierra Rodney *really* needed her
help. It was most surprising to have a very young
girl, who wasn't in the records, appear at the door
after she had knocked. She smiled sweetly at the
girl with both mouths. "Hello there." She looked
into the house. This girl needed to be taught about
stranger danger. "Is there anyone..." She began
before spotting Sierra. She waited for her to invite
the doctor in. "I received your message." She said
softly. "Doctor Tohan wasn't able to come, but I
assure you that the health of your family is my top
could reply there was a sudden onrush of blue
heading right in the direction of Doctor Bailo. "Pilaq!
Pilaq! Pilaq!" she screamed, as she wrapped her arms
around the Ithorian, unaware that it was a different
Ithorian. "Help my tummy hurts!" she said, as she
buried her face in the Ithorian's chest for comfort.
"It was so bad! So bad!" she said, pulling back, and
giving a look up at the Ithorian. And that's when
she realized it was not Doctor Tohan, but a female
member of the Ithorian species. "Ahh!" she screamed,
before running towards Sierra As she ran, she
grabbed hold of Callista by the arm to drag her to
safety. "Stranger danger! Stranger!" she chanted,
before taking up a defensive position behind Sierra.
Her head kept peeking out from behind either side of
her stepmother to see what was going on. There was a
stranger in the house.
Sierra was so
relieved to see Doctor Bailo. Despite not knowing
her well, she trusted Alessandra because she was a
friend of Pilaq's ... or maybe *more*? She was able
to say nothing more when Ewwiekewwieikkie arrived on
the scene. It took her awhile to figure out that the
Ithorian before her wasn't the usual family doctor.
When she did, she took a very confused Callista to
hide behind her. Callista seemed to remember her
parents telling her about stranger danger. She let
out a squeak. "Oooo! Nooo! I sorry!" The little girl
clung to her best friend and her aunt.
and wrapped her arms around both of them. She
understood that this was new and scary for them.
"Girls, this is Doctor Bailo. She's a friend of
Pilaq's. She wants to help make your tummies feel
better. Pilaq had to help your Uncle Marc and Auntie
Zara because your cousins are coming soon." She
was ready for Ewwiekewwieikkie. She had been
properly warned. Her smiles faded. "Poor child!" Her
arms wrapped around the girl softly enough that she
could easily break away the very moment she realized
that this was Alessa, not Pilaq. Sierra did a good
job of introducing the doctor. Clutching her medical
bag in one hand, she stepped up to Sierra. "Please
call me Alessa." She opened up her bag. "Ewwiekewwieikkie,
can I look in your mouth?" She pulled out an
otoscope. There was a shiny, plastic ring hanging
from a string dangling from the instrument. She
clicked it on so the light shone softly. "Say 'Ahhhh'."
Ewwiekewwieikkie cautiously looked toward Sierra for
approval, before slowly moving up and opening up to
the doctor. She was cautious, but cheerful as
always. "Okay," she said, as she opened up her
mouth, but then Doctor Bailo made a fatal mistake.
She dangled something new and shiny in front of the
girl. "What is that?!" she said, before moving to
grab the shiny plastic ring. And then it lit up. "I
need this!" she said, as she attempted to pull it
away from Doctor Bailo. "I give you one diamond,"
she declared, revealing that she had no idea the
value of things. Her economy was based solely on
whatever was in front of her at that given moment,
or how particularly shiny an object was. She was
impulsive and right now she would have given the
entire Rodney fortune for whatever this device was.
still hiding behind Sierra, staring at the woman in
awe. She had never seen an Ithorian before. It was
the most alien thing ever to cross her eyes. "You
have so many smiles..." She said with her mouth
hanging wide open. The little girl slowly began to
emerge from Sierra. Her tummy was hurting again. "Auntieee."
had a five second chance to look into
Ewwiekewwieikkie's mouth before it was impossible to
continue the check up. Alessa remained patient,
smiling wide as the Squib seemed to regain her
normal personality. "This is called an otoscope. It
helps me look in your ears, mouth, and eyes." She
explained, her fingers wrapping around the device as
she worked to keep it from Ewwiekewwieikkie for as
long as she could. The girl did know how to drive a
bargain. A diamond could buy many otoscopes. "I'll
give it to you if you help me with my examination.
Would you like to help?" She asked. "First, I need
you to open your mouth again. I want you to point to
where it hurts even if it's a lot of places."
Ewwiekewwieikkie murmured as she considered the
trade the doctor offered. "Fine," she said, as she
spit into her paw, and offered it over to the doctor
to seal the bargain. She then opened her mouth as
wide as she could, sticking her paw into her mouth,
and then down her throat. She started to gag and
quickly pulled her hand back out. If there was
anything in her system she surely would have thrown
up. "Down there. In my tummy," she said, before
reaching out for the otoscope. "Now gimme!" she
demanded, feeling she had upheld her end of the
deal. Too much time being babysat by Drusilla might
have been rubbing off.
Alessa shook a
very wet paw to show that it was a done deal. She
began her examination as rapidly as she could,
peering into Ewwiekewwieikkie's mouth, eyes, and
even her ears while the Squib showed her where the
pain was. Her stomach. Sierra had mentioned
suspecting that food poisoning was involved, but
Alessa wanted to be sure before she treated Callista
and Ewwie. She held out the tool. "One more question
and you can have it." She said, her smiles
brightening. "Does it hurt in your throat? Do you
feel like you're going to throw up?" She quietly 'hmmmed'.
Her eyes peered up at Sierra. "Is Drusilla Rodney
Callista into her arms, Sierra began to run her hand
through her long hair. "It'll be okay, I promise.
Alessa is going to check you out and figure out how
to make you better." She shook her head to the
doctor's question. "No. She seems to be fine.
Callista told me she ate a large amount of sweets at
the coronation. I've seen these girls eat a
ridiculous amount of junk food before, yet nothing
like this has ever happened." She rocked Callista
back and forth in her arms gently before she noticed
that the little girl had left her lovey toy on the
kitchen table. She made her way over to collect
Mister Snuggle Bunny before moving with Callista
towards the couch. She would be able to help keep
the little girl calm while Alessa looked over her.
whimpered. "My tummy hurts." She informed her auntie
for the millionth time. Her little arms wrapped
around Sierra's neck. She hid her face against her
chest until she saw her favored bunny plushie.
"Mister Snuggle Bunny!" She took the bunny,
squeezing it tightly. "Mister Snuggle Bunny doesn't
feel good either."
Bailo was adding terms to the deal,
Ewwwiekewwieikkie considered asking for two of the
toys, but ultimately decided to answer the question.
"No throat hurt. No throw up. Just poop! Lots and
lots of poop!" she explained, before reaching out to
snatch the device from the doctor. "Callista pooping
too. She broke my toilet. I had to use hers!" she
said, before dramatically pointing at Sierra like
she had fingered someone in a courtroom. She moved
towards Sierra and Callista before giving them both
a group hug. "Sorry 'bout all the pooping," she
said, before passing gas loudly and obnoxiously. "Oh
no. Here it comes again!" she said, before running
around in circles, as if trying to get away from it.
Ewwiekewwieikkie softly. "Oh, sweetie. There's
nothing to be sorry about." She had wished she could
wave her hand and fix Callista and Ewwiekewwieikkie
all night long. As Ewwie farted, Sierra realized
what was coming. "Ohno." She softly rested Callista
on the couch, grabbed Ewwiekewwieikkie's hand and
rushed her towards the quickest refresher rapidly.
She had hoped that all the pooping would end.
Apparently it was just beginning.
listened to Ewwiekewwieikkie explain what was going
on. She said it like it was: just poop. Lots and
lots of poop. She set her tool aside for
Ewwiekewwieikkie to keep when she returned from the
refresher. With Sierra and Ewwie gone, she turned
her attention on the young girl. "Your tummy hurts
too? Nowhere else?" She asked in a kind voice.
Callista shyly nodded. Without a word, she opened
her mouth and stuck out her tongue so the doctor
could examine her. The little girl was curious,
especially when she brought out a second tool
looking identical to the one she had given
Ewwiekewwieikkie. "So much poop." She explained,
wiping tears from her eyes. "I got to see a
circumcision." Callista informed the doctor, slowly
warming up to her while she was poked and prodded
at. "It was so cool! Uncle Marcus and Auntie Zara
wore crowns! I have a crown too. My uncle gave me a
crown. Did you know he's the ambassador of candy
land? We have lots and lots of tea parties. Auntie
makes the tea yummy for me. Do you like tea? I like
your smiles." The little girl rambled on and on.
running right from the refresher to the kitchen,
where she promptly dove into the fridge. "What goes
in must come out!" she declared, as she started
putting everything she could find onto a sandwich.
She made her way back towards Callista and Doctor
Bailo with her sandwich as she cautiously looked at
them. "We ate all the cakes so now all we have are
sandwiches," she reported, sadly, as if the world
were ending. "So Mrs. Pilaq, why we poop so much?"
she said, before opening her mouth wide and
attacking her sandwich. As everything went straight
through her she found herself more hungry than ever.
She then offered her half eaten sandwich over to the
Doctor in case she wanted a bite.
The human girl
was so sweet. Alessa assumed her to be a child of
Claudius and Sierra, given her brown hair and big,
blue eyes. She didn't know why Pilaq had given her
no information about this child. Her eyes went wide
upon hearing the word 'circumcision' from the girl,
though she quickly put together that she meant
*coronation*. "You have a crown too?" She said,
sounding shocked. "It must look beautiful on you. I
do like tea. When you're well, I'll bring over some
corncakes and we shall have a party." Alessa was
finishing up her examination when Ewwiekewwieikkie
returned, somehow feeling well enough to eat more
food. Her eyes shrank and her face turned beet red.
*Mrs. Pilaq* the Squib called her. It forced her to
recall her foolish crush and how hard Duchess Zara
had tried to make things happen between them.
Confident that she knew what was going on, the
doctor stood. "Oh. No thank you." Ewwiekewwieikkie
needed to put something in her stomach after all.
"Well, you're pooping so much because you ate
something that made your stomach not feel well. I am
going to prescribe some medicine for both you and
Sierra aside with a look of concern on her face.
"The girls seem to be suffering from laxative
poisoning. The good news is that they'll be back to
normal rapidly after you get some medication in
them. I'll send the prescription to the Retributor
now. The bad news is that something your girls ate
was laced with laxatives."
that last round with Ewwiekewwieikkie had made
Sierra sick enough that she threw up. She didn't
have an iron stomach *yet*. She listened to Alessa
diagnose the children, feeling instantly angry that
someone had dared lace their food. Was it Zara
again? Was Zara cursing her through her children?
Her blood pressure rose as she struggled to remain
pleasant. "Thank you for taking care of that, Doctor
Bailo. I am not sure when the girls were poisoned.
I'll do some investigating." Sierra sighed, placing
a hand on the doctor's shoulder. "Thank you for
coming. I have one more favor to ask of you..."
Bethany Sheppard slowly descended the stairs from
the upper level, glossy eyed and white faced, which
clearly indicated she had suffered a recent trauma.
"Commander, can you please sign off on my orders
acknowledge I've completed by doody duty," she said
to Sierra, with a polite nod to the Ithorian, before
extending her datapad with her encoded orders. "Is
there anything else I can do for you, milady?" she
asked, as she rubbed her hands together
uncomfortably. She wondered if she could ever get
them clean enough. Her eyes looked to the Squib,
whose fecal matter she had just gone through for the
past hour, and who had gotten her reprimanded and
assigned to this task, shaking her head. "Did you
find out what was wrong?" she asked, as she wanted
more information on just what had caused this
misfortunate, which quickly enveloped her as well.
Ensign Sheppard. Sierra had felt bad for the
woman when she showed up at her doorstep in the wee
hours of the morning. Honestly, she had needed the
help. She didn't realize what Drusilla had forced
her to do... *yet*. "Oh, yes. Thank you for your
assistance, Ensign Sheppard." Sierra took the datapad and happily signed off for Bethany before
offering it back to her. "Actually, there's one last
thing. I need a ride up to the ship with Doctor
Bailo. I have medicine to collect for the girls."
And she wanted to surprise Claudius, though she
didn't mention that to Bethany. "Care to help me?"
Sierra slowly nodded her head. "Yes, it appears they
ate something bad at the coronation." She gave vague
details to Bethany. She seemed kind enough, but she
had no idea if Arden controlled her too or not. "One
moment please." Sierra darted upstairs to change
into her uniform and make herself decent. Drusilla
would have to hold down the fort while she acquired
never seen a female Ithorian before, and she was
trying not to stare, but as a result all she was
doing was staring. "Yes, of course, Commander," she
said, before excusing her to go and prepare the
ship. The last thing she wanted to do was stand
there staring at the Ithorian. As she looked out
over the Terril Naval Base in the distance, watching
the TIE Strikers buzz about, she was disappointed
that she had not been chosen for flight school. As
she moved towards the shuttle to get it ready for
departure she reflected on what kind of day it had
been. In a word? *Shitty*.
was made to feel uncomfortable by Bethany's staring
eyes. Her cheeks grew more and more red. It had been
some time since she traveled off of her herdship. It
was worth it. The children were wonderful. The
youngest child, Callista, gave her a warm hug. "Come
back soon, kay Mrs. Pilaq?" She thought Ewwie knew
everything, and thus decided that this name must be
the right one for the lady Ithorian. As soon as
Sierra arrived from upstairs, dressed as an ISB
office, a *Major* for the first time, Doctor Bailo
headed towards the door slowly. Together, they
embarked on the trip back to the Retributor. Sierra
prayed she didn't regret leaving Drusilla in charge.
She hoped that the estate was still there when she
came back home.
